Founder
Expatriate Tanya Pampalone started xpat.co.za to help create community and to assist other XPATs in setting up in their lives in South Africa.
Originally from Los Angeles, Tanya has also lived and worked as a writer and editor in San Francisco and Prague.
Prior to joining the Mail & Guardian as special projects editor, she was managing editor of local magazines Maverick and Empire.
Over the years, Tanya has contributed to numerous publications including Agence France-Presse, Cosmopolitan, Elle and O,
The Oprah Magazine and was an editor for online travel giant Travelocity and the San Francisco Examiner.
She handled media relations for the City of San Francisco's tourism sector, working regularly with print and electronic media such as Gourmet,
The Travel Channel, The Food Network and the BBC. She holds a BA in Journalism and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from the University of San Francisco.
