Hi I need some urgent advice. I moved back to SA at the end of August with my 2 kids aged 14 and 16. I since have applied for my SA passport and received it. I also have a US passport as do the kids. We are off on vacation Dec 14 and i just saw that the kids visa expired Nov 27! I meant to apply for citizenship for them (been told that they are eligible as i am SA born)but it slipped my mind. My question is :what is my best course of action? Will there be a problem when flying out? or more importantly, returning to SA? I gather that its too late to apply for an extension. Any suggestions? Will they perhaps be lenient as they are kids and I (Mum) is South African and also coz they have a US passport?? Would appreciate any help!

I think they might just give you a fine of some sort and tell you not to do that again. But to be sure, call someone who does permits. Lucas Khiba has helped me countless times - he's a certified permit expediter and should be able to give you some advice on this - he doesn't do email but you can phone him on 072 353 4664.
