How to find family home?
Hi everybody, I'm taking up work in Jozi next year and the kids will enrol at the German School in Parktown. Any suggestions about how to find a suitable family home and where, or even any concrete offers? All advise will be really appreciated...

To be near the school, you'd do well to stay in Westcliff or Parkview...that is both close enough to town and Sandton to make it easy to get to likely work places. There are agents that specialise in those areas...maybe try websites like The Property Magazine - www.thepropertymag.co.za or Private Property on www.privateproperty.co.za - will give you an idea of prices and can find out which agents specialise in what areas. Good luck!

We eventually found our Joburg home by driving around and noting numbers on 'to let' signs, but found the following sites very useful:
gumtree.co.za, many agents advertise on here
www.privateproperty.co.za
www.justletting.co.za - helpful agents with offices in all areas
http://www.property24.com/
http://www.iolproperty.co.za
The local weekly newspaper published by www.caxton.co.za (different name in each suburb) are handy for ads, as is the www.junkmail.co.za newspaper and website.
When you search, you'll see the same places pop up on several sites. Some sites allow registration and notification emails which are handy. We only really started looking when we arrived and found a place within 10 days, as you really need to see and compare several places to get an idea.
Driving around, I see the German school has dedicated bus stops. No idea if these are in use as I never saw their bus (if not they should remove them eh) but living near one of those may also be handy.
