Life Assurance for expats
Hi,
I need to get life assurance cover however, as with bonds, it is not easy without an SA ID. I am moving from the UK to Joburg however because I dont have an SA ID I cant find anyone in SA that will give me life assurance cover because I am not a resident. Also the banks that I have called in the UK will also not cover me because I will not be living in the UK (I would need to be there for at least 6 months of the year).
Does anyone know of a Life Assurance company that will cover me in Johannesburg even though I am not a resident (UK or SA based)?
Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy, I know it's nearly a year on but you may still need this. You can get cover in UK provided that it is with someone providing Global cover and you pay from UK bank account - you probably know that a UK bank account is a necessity to start with. Alternatively, you should be able to get cover in SA once arrived OR if you may go elsewhere in future consider an Off-shore Policy. In any event SEEK INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL ADVICE FOR EX-PATS.
