The last Wednesday of every month, the Canadian Embassy in Pretoria puts on a pub night for Canadian expatriates from 4:30 pm to 9 pm. Alliance Francaise offers French-language courses, performing arts programs and French-language libraries in most South African cities.

The French Institute of South Africa is the cultural agency of the French Embassy in South Africa and hosts more than 50 events each year designed to promote French culture. The organization publishes its artistic calendar in the bi-monthly Newtown Zebra. IFAS also maintains a large research library.

The American Society of South Africa offers chances to network and socialize with the American Community in South Africa. Activities for families and busy professionals include a traditional July 4th, Halloween and Thanksgiving functions, along with the annual cocktail reception at the Consul General's residence and special interest wine and cheese events. Membership is open to Americans and employees of American companies, as well as South Africans with an interest in America. The Society has local chapters in Johannesburg, Durban and Pretoria. The Chilean Association in South Africa (ACHISA) is the representative body of the Chilean community resident in South Africa, under the jurisdiction of the Chilean Consulate in South Africa. ACHISA started in December 2005 and organises fund raising events such as lunches, independence day celebration and bingo afternoons. For more information, email achisud@gmail.com.

The South African-German Cultural Association has branches in most South African cities. In addition to offering events to connect Germans living in South Africa, the association works to promote cultural ties to German-speaking countries in Europe and to promote the study and use of the German language in South Africa. Annual memberships are available for individuals, families and businesses.

The Goethe Institute organizes English-language cultural programmes often featuring European artists in fields of music, theatre, dance, literature, film and the visual arts. The Institute also maintains a library of German language books and other resources.

While more native than foreign, the Homecoming Revolution is a great resource for newbies to South Africa and even better if you're a South African returning from overseas after an extended period, as that's what they are there for. Started in 2001 by a "homecomer" who was in London for many years, the organization hosts seminars and, via their website, provides a link to those interested in returning to South Africa.
